Steel Substructure for Vertical Greening in New York
Introduction: In the heart of New York, we built a massive substructure intended for future greening (vertical vegetation). The steel construction serves as a support for climbing plants and other greenery, giving the building a sustainable, green appearance.
Challenges: Because of the central urban location and limited space in New York, a detailed logistics plan was necessary. Additionally, rectangular hollow sections used as welded beams had to be fabricated at complex angles and assembled precisely on site.
Solution: Through exact 3D surveying and custom fabrication of the steel elements, we achieved a rapid assembly process in the tight urban setting. All components were delivered in segments, which were joined on site with minimal crane usage.
Result: The substructure is now ready for the planned landscaping, providing the foundation for a unique green façade. The client benefits from a durable steel construction that supports an eco-friendly design concept.
